Museums and more

Sydney has a long and detailed history with convicts and there are sights and museums aplenty in and around Sydney to enjoy with this fascinating slice of history.  Museums and other public venues change their exhibitions on a regular basis but check to see if somewhere like the Hyde Park Barracks has something along those lines.  Here you can meet the first Europeans who built much of early Sydney. If you’re new to Australia and would like to meet some of our indigenous creatures then the Australian Museum is sure to fascinate. For all you sailors and those interested in ships, the Australian National maritime Museum is a must see. You can even have a close encounter with a submarine. And finally there’s The Susannah Place Museum which brings to life the area known as The Rocks.

Live entertainment

Sydney is alive with theatre and you should check ahead if planning a visit to the Harbour City so as to be sure you can [a] discover what’s on and [b] make sure you can get a ticket. Some shows are sold out and booking is advisable. There are some old and tiny theatre spaces in Sydney and some more grand ones such as those spaces in the Sydney Opera House.
